Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau, work inside your muscles (usually the facial muscles) to block the impulses of muscle contraction. This relaxes the muscles and temporarily diminishes the appearance of dynamic lines and wrinkles (wrinkles that appear when you make a facial expression).
After treatment, it typically takes 3-7 days to start seeing the effect and a full 2 weeks for the full effect. It’s possible that you may need a touch-up treatment after 2 weeks to optimize your results and this is normal.
Neuromodulator treatment is pretty quick and painless and the actual procedure will only take a few minutes depending what area you are having treated. In general, after treatment, no one will notice you’ve had something done. You might have small bumps at the sites of injection that look like mosquito bites but these usually disappear within 15-20 minutes.
Neuromodulators can also be used for some other unique treatments to reduce excessive sweating and in some cases acne, migraines, and TMJ.
Neuromodulators should only be administered by a trained medical professional like a nurse or a physician after a thorough consultation and review of your medical history.
